About the event
Making pocketbooks of poetry with found objects.
A Zine-Making Workshop with Zinedabaad Collective & The Bombay Poetry Crawl.
How can everyday objects become home to pocket-sized poetry that we can keep with us at all times? In this hands-on workshop with Saranya we'll explore the magic of minimalist poetry and create our own tiny, 10-page collections on found objects—poetry that fits in your pocket and travels with you. From secret scribbles in chits to words painted over dried leaves, we’ll reimagine what poetry can be and where it can live.Â
Zinedabaad Collective is a zine-making collective, run by Riya Behl and Devashree Somani.Â
They make zines, organise workshops and curate pop-up zine libraries, at the intersection of participatory arts, research and education. They believe in the spirit of the zine: a non-commercial, non-professional, small-circulation booklet, usually distributed by zinesters themselves and often traded within the zinester community.Â
Zines exist outside of mass consumer culture and are circulated by and within communities marginalised by traditional media or dominant social discourses. The word ‘zindabaad’ in Hindustani means ‘long live’ and Zinedabaad is committed to keeping the spirit of social impact alive through their innovative, arts-based, community-building efforts.
This Sunday, spend a playful afternoon making comics and zines with Saranya from Zinedabaad Collective & The Bombay Poetry Crawl!
