This workshop is designed to equip men and women with practical skills and the right mindset for self-defence. It combines awareness, physical techniques, and psychological preparedness. The focus is always on protection and escape, not aggression. Below is a structured session plan with detailed explanations. Introduction & Icebreaker • Welcome participants, explain objectives. • Self-defence = protection & escape, not aggression. • Icebreaker: participants share what self-defence means to them. Awareness & Mindset • Situational awareness: scanning environment, maintaining safe distances. • Body language: confident posture, steady walking, eye contact. • Verbal assertiveness: practise shouting “STOP!” and “BACK OFF!”. Understanding Threats & Psychology • Common threats faced by men & women (street fights, harassment, mugging). • Pre-assault cues: clenched fists, pacing, staring. • Adrenaline & fight-flight-freeze explained. • Drill: breathing + power stance to overcome freeze response. Basic Techniques – Strikes & Escapes • Warm-up: push-ups, squats, palm strikes in the air. • Strikes: palm heel (nose/chin), elbow, knee to groin, low kick. • Escapes: wrist grab release, bear hug escape, choke defence. • Pair drills: practice slowly, then medium pace. • Partner drills: grab & escape, strike + distance + escape. Wrap-Up & Takeaways • Recap: Awareness → Avoidance → Action → Escape. • Group empowerment shout: “I AM READY TO DEFEND MYSELF!”. • Share resources: dojo classes, helplines, reading material.
