1 hCommunity Centre

Service Description

A space to be seen, heard, and understood. This monthly peer meet is for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) to come together in community - to talk, listen, share stories, and just be. We believe in the power of peer connection. Whether you're navigating day-to-day challenges or simply want to spend time with others who understand, this space offers support, belonging, and joy. Come as you are , we’ll meet you there. Service Description: Held on the last Saturday of every month, these peer support sessions are facilitated by experienced hosts who guide the group through simple, structured conversations and activities that help build confidence, communication, and connection. Sessions focus on emotional well-being, self-expression, and building social skills in a low-pressure, encouraging environment. Everyone is invited to participate in the way that works best for them — speaking, typing, listening, or sharing creatively. We begin with group norms to ensure safety and comfort for all, and wrap up with a grounding activity like a short reflection or breathing exercise. This is not a therapy group , it’s a space for community and connection but referrals for additional support can be provided if needed. Who is this group for? Adults with: - Intellectual Disabilities (LD / Slow Learners) - Developmental Disabilities, including:  • Down Syndrome  • Fragile X Syndrome  • Cerebral Palsy  • ADHD  • Autism Spectrum Disorder Sessions begin and end on time. Please join 5 minutes early; entry closes 10 minutes after the start time.
