Peer Support - Depression
Peer Support - Depression
Because some days just feel heavier.
Service Description
This space is for people experiencing depression or depressive symptoms — whether that looks like low mood, fatigue, numbness, guilt, isolation, or simply feeling stuck. You don’t need to have a diagnosis. You don’t need to explain why you feel the way you do. This is a space to sit with others who understand the weight of it — without judgement or pressure to “feel better.” You’re welcome to participate in the way that feels right for you. Speaking is optional. Listening counts. What to expect: These sessions are facilitated by someone with lived experience relevant to the group. They hold the space with care, without directing, diagnosing, or fixing. Each session: is conversational and participant-led values listening as much as speaking begins with shared group norms ends with a short grounding or closing reflection Topics vary each time and are shaped by what participants bring into the room. This is not a therapy group. It is a peer-led space for connection and mutual support. Practical details Format: In-person / Online Frequency: Weekly / Fortnightly / Monthly Duration: 60 minutes Capacity: 12 participants Location: Agatsu Community Centre (if in-person) Peer meets are open groups. New participants are welcome at every session. Registration & attendance You’re welcome to walk in, but we strongly recommend registering in advance. If there is only one registration, the session will be cancelled. Registered participants will be informed by 3:00 pm on the day of the session, or at least one hour before it begins — whichever is earlier. Registering helps ensure the session goes ahead as planned. Boundaries & safety This space is based on shared experience, not advice-giving or fixing. Participation is always voluntary and confidentiality is respected. If someone appears to be at risk of harm to themselves or others, facilitators follow Agatsu’s internal safety protocols.
