Peer Support - Grief
Because memories are forever!
Service Description
The Grief Peer Support Group is a compassionate and inclusive space for individuals navigating various forms of loss, whether it's the death of a loved one, loss of a pet, a breakup, divorce, job loss, or other significant life changes. This group offers a supportive environment where participants can share their stories, listen to others, and find solace in knowing they are not alone. Grief is complex and deeply personal, and the group aims to create a safe space for participants to express their emotions and experiences freely. Each session is facilitated by a lived experience expert who is deeply committed to the cause, drawing from their own journey of navigating loss and grief. The session begins with an introduction to group guidelines and expectations, fostering a respectful and inclusive environment. Guided discussions, prompted by reflective starter questions, encourage participants to share their feelings, challenges, and stories. This peer-driven format is designed to nurture empathy, mutual support, and meaningful connections. The group supports a free-flowing discussion, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to share if they wish, while also respecting individual preferences for silence. Confidentiality is a top priority, ensuring that all personal details shared remain private.Participants can choose to share their names or remain anonymous based on their comfort level. The Grief Peer Support Group provides a safe, judgment-free space where individuals can openly share their grief, feel heard, and find comfort in connection. While grief may not diminish, the group nurtures understanding and support, helping participants feel less alone as they navigate their journey. All sessions conclude with a grounding technique, such as meditation, to help participants reflect and leave the session feeling supported. These sessions are not a replacement for therapy, but we do have resources available that can help with additional support as needed.
