Peer Support - Moms
Because mothers are human too!
Service Description
The New Moms Peer Support Group is a welcoming and supportive space created for mothers navigating the joys and challenges of early motherhood. Designed for those with newborns or infants, this group provides a non-judgmental environment where participants can share their experiences, emotions, and stories. The focus is on building connections and helping one another navigate this transformative phase of life. Facilitated by a lived experience expert who understands the complexities of early motherhood, the group offers a safe space for participants to share their struggles and triumphs. With a deep personal connection to the topic, the facilitator brings empathy and insight to each session, fostering an inclusive and understanding atmosphere. Each session begins with a brief introduction to the guidelines and objectives of the group. Participants can choose to share their names or remain anonymous, depending on their comfort. Topics are introduced by the facilitator and discussed openly, with everyone having the opportunity to speak. The sessions also adapt to participants’ needs, incorporating suggestions on themes they wish to explore. This peer support group aims to provide a sense of community, helping participants feel seen, heard, and understood. It fosters emotional resilience, offering insights, perspectives, and a shared sense of gratitude for supporting and being supported during this unique phase of life. All sessions conclude with a grounding technique, such as meditation, to help participants reflect and leave the session feeling supported. These sessions are not a replacement for therapy, but we do have resources available that can help with additional support as needed.
