Peer Support - Substance use challenges
Because it's not about Willpower!
Service Description
Recovery is not a straight line and you don’t have to walk it alone. This is a non-judgmental, confidential space for individuals navigating substance use, whether you're in recovery, questioning your relationship with substances, or supporting someone who is. Here, we share honestly, hold space for one another’s struggles and strengths, and remind each other that healing takes time and community. Wherever you are on your journey, you are welcome here. No pressure. No shame. Just support. These peer support sessions are facilitated by professionals with lived experience with training in suicide prevention, harm reduction and trauma-informed care. Each session starts with a check-in and a guided discussion around topics like coping strategies, boundaries, relapse, rebuilding trust, or dealing with stigma. We center lived experiences and recognize that recovery looks different for everyone. There is no “right” way to be here ,some come to share, others come to listen. All are valid. Sessions follow a structured format with clear ground rules, guided prompts, and space for free-flowing conversation. Cameras are optional, participation is flexible, and silence is respected. Sessions end with a brief grounding exercise to help participants return to their day with calm and clarity. This group is not a substitute for therapy or clinical treatment but it can be a crucial source of solidarity and strength. Referrals and additional support resources are available on request. Sessions begin and end on time. Please log in 5 minutes early; late entries after 10 minutes will not be permitted.
