About the event
Pinch is a darkly comic drama set during Navratri in India. The film follows Maitri Singh, an aspiring travel blogger whose life spirals into chaos after a seemingly small incident—a pinch—accidentally triggers a mob attack. As guilt, secrets, and social backlash mount, Maitri finds herself navigating a world that would rather dismiss discomfort than confront it.
Written and directed by Uttera Singh, Pinch draws from personal experience and the stories of many women. The film challenges the cultural tendency to downplay so-called “minor” assaults, using humor and sharp observation to open up a difficult conversation—one that also invites men into the room.
At its core, Pinch asks a pressing question: How far must someone go to be believed and what is the cost of staying silent?
The screening will be followed by a virtual Q+A with the filmmaker.
Duration: 88 minutes
